Phosphate contributes to nuisance algae growth in the aquarium that could spiral out of control if not managed swiftly. Everything on a reef or in your aquarium is trying to compete for space and resources. Algae, in many respects, do a better job of competing than our corals do. By limiting phosphate availability in the water column, it slows or stops the growth of algae and thus helps the corals in that struggle for space and resources.  An abundance of phosphate directly inhibits stony coral growth. If you have phosphate in high enough concentrations, it interferes with the corals’ ability to build new skeleton. This can leave coral colonies weak and susceptible to infection or overgrowth from encroaching algae.

Aquaeaz PHA Biopellets help manage phosphate by feeding and growing beneficial bacteria, thus these natural bacteria effectively neutralize phosphate, ammonia, and nitrites by consuming them. Unlike other chemical filtration media, such as GFO- Granular Ferric Oxide (basically rust). It does not only target phosphate, GFO can and will lower trace elements that contribute to stable water chemistry, so there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.  Aquaeaz PHA Biopellets do not strip out the trace elements, it just naturally controls the denitrification cycle through the growth of natural beneficial bacteria.

—  Aquaeaz BioPellets will save the Aquarium and Pond enthusiast a lot of time, and money by clearing up and balancing their water.

How Aquaeaz works:

  1. —  It encourages the growth of beneficial bacteria on the pellet’s surface, and the bacteria’s enzymes will metabolize the Aquaeaz Biopellets as a food source one carbon atom at a time.
  2. —  It biodegrades in microbial active environments in a short period of time.
  3. —  The action of some enzymes produced by microbes solubilizes the PHA/PHB which is then absorbed through the cell wall and metabolized by the beneficial bacteria.
  4. —  PHA/PHB is normally broken down in to carbon dioxide and water when degraded in aerobic conditions.  In absence of oxygen the anaerobic degradation is faster, and methane is also produced.
  5. —  Most all the nitrates and phosphates in the aquarium or pond systems will balance-out without spiking any of the other levels.

Background:

  • —  Decomposition of food, plants, fish, and animal material naturally occurs in Nature.
  • —  Dissolved oxygen levels decrease and the nitrate levels increase during decomposition.
  • —  Bacteria break down large protein molecules into ammonia which combines with oxygen to form nitrates and nitrites.
  • —  Aquaeaz PHA Biopellets accelerate this denitrification process by providing a biodegradable material which does not foul the water quality.
  • —  Many plants remove Nitrates from the water by consuming them, and these bacteria are doing the same thing – removing Nitrates by consuming them.
  • —  Protein Skimmers are not needed in the freshwater systems, but are recommended in Saltwater systems.  The bacteria that are living and thriving on the PHA are also consuming the Nitrates.
  • —  The PHA is normally broken down in to carbon dioxide and water when degraded in aerobic conditions.  In absence of oxygen the anaerobic degradation is faster, and methane is also produced.
  • —  The PHA can rapidly reduce the ammonia to nitrogen cycle without nitrite accumulation.
  • —  Aquaeaz Biopellets will save the Aquarium and Pond enthusiast a lot of time, and money by clearing up their water naturally.
